College of Idaho--Go 'Yotes!

Many people when they're looking at Idaho for their future home don't realize that there are several options for higher education. The most popular is, of course, Boise State University. Most people know of BSU, and know that Boise has a huge college community. There's also a college in Canyon County.  College of Idaho, founded in 1891, is Idaho's oldest private liberal arts college. It has a tradition of educating some of the most accomplished graduates in Idaho, including six Rhodes Scholars, three Marshall Scholars, and another 11 Truman and Goldwater Scholars. The College is located on a beautiful campus in Caldwell, Idaho. Its distinctive PEAK curriculum challenges students to attain competencies in the four knowledge peaks of the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences and a professional field, enabling them to graduate with an academic major and three minors in four years. College of Idaho has more than 50 student clubs and organizations, with an active student government, the Associated Students of The College of Idaho (ASCI) and strong intramural and club sports programs. Intramural sports include: basketball, soccer, softball and flag football.

In 2014 the College brought back it's football team after a 37 year hiatus. The move infused adrenaline into the athletics program, as well as the community prompting Go Purple Fridays. Go Purple lists it's mission statement as striving to bolster pride, enthusiasm and positive relationships between the College of Idaho, City of Caldwell and surrounding communities through social gatherings, fundraisers and a variety of diverse activities and presentations. http://www.gopurplegoyotes.com/ In Caldwell, and surrounding cities business and citizens wear purple on Fridays to show school and community pride. #GoPurple
